MGH Mclean
The Massachusetts General Hospital/McLean Hospital Adult Residency Training Program in Psychiatry has been designed to prepare resident physicians for the practice of psychiatry in the 21st century.
Intern year serves to ground the developing psychiatrist as a physician.
This year starts the formal full-time psychiatric training for the MGH/McLean psychiatry resident.
Third year is focused on refining the residents’ diagnostic and therapeutic skills.
PGY4 marks the final year of residency in the MGH/McLean program.
MGH/McLean offers a unique five- or six-year Combined Adult-Child & Adolescent Program including a pediatric internship at MGH with six months of pediatric rotations, one month of adult neurology, and four months of psychiatry.
The MGH Division of Public and Community Psychiatry is the home for clinicians, educators, researchers, trainees and advocates whose primary focus is public sector and community psychiatric populations, disorders and programs, and who embrace the social mission of medicine.
The Clinician Educator Program’s mission is to prepare residents for a career as clinician educators by offering additional training and mentorship toward developing skills in teaching and education during residency.
The Program in Psychodynamics helps residents develop expertise in psychodynamic thinking and apply it to all of their interests in psychiatry — everything from substance abuse to global health to the practice of psychodynamic psychotherapy.
